Description
James Hoffman's Ultimate V60 technique is designed for consistency and improved extraction. It starts with a high-ratio bloom phase, which fully saturates the coffee grounds.
The subsequent two pours focus on even saturation, ensuring a balanced and flavorful brew with excellent clarity and body.
Instructions
- Rinse the filter and preheat the dripper. Discard the rinse water.
- Add ground coffee to the filter and gently shake to level the bed.
- Start your timer. Pour twice the coffee weight in water (2:1 ratio) to bloom the grounds.
- Swirl the dripper gently to ensure all grounds are evenly saturated.
- Let the bloom sit for 45 seconds.
- At 0:45, begin a slow, even second pour up to 60% of your total brew water.
- Let the water draw down slightly, maintaining a steady flow rate.
- At 1:30, begin the final pour up to 100% of your target brew water.
- After the final pour, swirl the dripper gently again to settle the coffee bed.
- Allow the coffee to finish dripping, then serve.
